Taking on Harry Potter World

imageDreams do come true! I am beyond excited to share my Harry Potter experience with you. But before I go into details, you should know that I cried when I did not get a letter of acceptance from Howgwarts when I turned 11. I am a HUGE fan of the books and the movies. They are about friendship, loyalty, family and magic. I read Harry Potter in three different languages and would do it again.

Going to the Universal Studios Theme Park, I only cared about the two Harry Potter parks, but of course spent some time all over. So here we go:

Harry Potter parks were all that I expected and more! So detailed and beautifully built. First, you enter the Diagon Alley filled with many little shops and one large ride. You can be “chosen” by a wand to make up for your heartfelt disappointment at 11. A cool fact – every wand has some sort of a sensor and you can come up to any window display, move your wand around and see objects fly — magic! Harry Potter and The Escape From Gringotts ride is the best at the whole park. A good mixture of 3D and physical movement. Waiting in line is pretty entertaining because of little displays, talking pictures, music and very detailed decor.

Hogwarts express connects the two parks. It is really fast to access and is definitely better than walking. While on the train, you get attacked by dementors, but you survive!

Off the train, you enter Hogsmeade. Butter Beer can be purchased on every corner and it’s basically a pretty disgusting Italian soda. You can see Hogwarts in the distance and cry a little. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is located inside the Hogwarts castle and is pretty amazing. Style-wise,it is very similar to the first ride. The second ride, Dragon Challenge has nothing to do with Harry Potter, but is very intense and you should do it on an empty stomach. Who knew a dancer can be SO off balance!

The only criticism I have is food. The food inside Harry Potter World was pretty bad, but to be completely honest, I felt that it was a common problem for the entirety of Universal Studios. Enjoy some images and I am going to indulge in memories and stress-eat a chocolate frog!
